What is Andropause?

Andropause or “manopause” is a name that has been given to a menopause-like condition in aging men. The symptoms are associated with the steady decrease of testosterone in men.

Could I Be Suffering from Andropause?

These ten easy questions can help you to determine if you are at risk for low testosterone. Choose the responses below that best describe how you have been feeling.

  1. Do you have a decrease in libido (sex drive)?
  2. Do you have a lack of energy?
  3. Do you have a decrease in strength and/or endurance?
  4. Have you lost height?
  5. Have you noticed a decreased “enjoyment of life?”
  6. Are you sad and/or grumpy?
  7. Are your erections less strong?
  8. Have you noticed a recent deterioration in your ability to play sports?
  9. Are you falling asleep after dinner?
  10. Has there been a recent deterioration in your work performance?

If you answer “yes” to question 1 or 7, or at least three of the other questions, you may have low testosterone. Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) has benefited many men with these symptoms.

Libido and TRT

Libido, a term by the noted founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud has a variety of meanings both popular and technical. It most often is used as a synonym for the sexual drive.

Testosterone is one of the hormones controlling libido in human beings. Loss of sexual desire in middle age may be linked to lowered levels of testosterone. This can be improved by TRT. A simple blood test is the only method to determine if indeed your symptoms are caused by a low testosterone level. Once this is determined you could benefit from TRT.

Various herbal remedies are advertised as the surest way to revive a declining libido, however, they are believed by the FDA to be unsafe. There is no evidence based upon medical study that libido is safely enhanced by taking such uncontrolled substances, so they are strongly recommended against.

National Male Medical Clinics offers Testosterone Replacement Therapy to increase testosterone and reduce symptoms associated with its loss.
